Where to book your flights is one of the most daunting things about booking private accommodation abroad. We are generally all used to booking package holidays.
Flights to Fuerteventura are plentiful and prices can change daily and at the drop of the hat. I wanted to provide a few tips that I use and some idea of the airlines that fly to Fuerteventura.
Tip One
One of the best websites I have come across recently is called AirHint.com. I used to use Skyscanner, but they changed the way they handled price alerts, but with airhint, if you have an idea of the flights you would like to travel on you can set up alerts to let you know when the price drops. It will also give you an idea on whether they believe they will drop in the future.
Tip Two
There are plenty of airlines that fly to Fuerteventura and most airports in the UK support flights to the Island. Don't be snobby when it comes to flights, we would all love to fly with TUI - but they are often a lot more expensive.
Over the last 9 years we have mainly flown with Ryanair. Generally the earlier from when flights are released, the better the cost - although price drops happen frequently over the course of looking. Remember that you will need to add baggage to the cost of flights.
Ryanair often do sales. My mum picked up flights for £5 each way in December.
Airlines that fly to Fuerteventura include:
It is worth shopping around and checking different airports as an example, East Midlands often comes in a lot better priced than Manchester - but Manchester has more availability of flights.
Tip Three
If you are within a decent distance of a few airports, don't be afraid to fly out with one airline/airport and fly back into another airline/airport. The cost can be hundreds of pounds saved over the cost of a minibus to pick you up and drop you off.
In the past we have saved over £500 in flights from departing from Birmingham airport with Ryanair and flying back into Leeds with Jet2. Just make sure you weight up the cost of the minibus over the potential saving on flights, petrol and parking.
Tip Four
If you have seen flights that work for you, but maybe the price doesn't quite work yet then don't be afraid to book the accommodation first and wait for the flights to work, even if you have to book the departure and arrival flights separately.
Sometimes outbound flights will be great, but inbound flights not so good. It's easy to book one way flights and wait for the other flights to come into budget. (Make sure you have plenty of room to book on dates)
